Hi Rich Good news re your anti tnf's arrived  . Don't worry I don't stalk you, follow you on twitter!!  I decided on enbrel because rheumy nurse says goes out of your body quickly should we need to change your meds. I'm waiting on phone call regarding delivery (told it will be about 3 weeks by rheumy nurse). Are the drugs company flexible with arrangement for delivery? Hiya Jane , hehehe no problem twitter is a good place to pick up info , depending on what you use it for ;). Yayayy seems like a lot of us are going to be biological :). My Hospital Uses Healthcare at Home ,and according to the welcome pack : with the Humira you get 4 pens at once , ie 8 weeks at a time, they have to speak to you in person one or two days prior to the delivery,you can have it delivered to work , or elswhere such as a friend or neighbour as long as you have given consent,and can even discus delivery arrangements . They deliver in an unmarked van The ETA of the delivery can be ascertained by Website the night before or phone from 8 am . Until i see the nurse next week that is all the info i have :) Good luck with the enbrel , but i must admit i am more pragmatic than hopeful.  Hiya Rich Its another step with ra, interesting to see what our bodies like and don't like with the anti tnf's. Also - this thread will give an insight to other people on here that there is many meds to help us and the journey on anti tnf isn't that frightening Just waiting for the company to ring and arrange delivery then a nurse to arrange to come out. Shocking that each injection costs £178 - when rheumy nurse told me I thought if I had to pay, I just couldn't afford it. I shall wait for the phone to ring! Jane X

Hi Rich
Re Healthcare at home. You can get your 4 hour window of delivery on the actual day via the healthcare at home website. You just enter your Healthcare at home number and tell you the name of your driver and the delivery time window ie between 8am and 12pm. Good luck

When I got my first delivery six years ago (humira) the delivery man told me he`d always be there at the same time each delivery day - they know their rounds. That`s been the case, and when traffic here was at a standstill due to snow, Healthcare at Home got their drugs here too, in spite of all the difficulties. I`ve never had a complaint with them. hi Rich,
good to hear you'll soon be starting Humira.
i get a twelve month schedule and have mine delivered every 8 weeks on a Friday. as Val says you do get a time, mine is normally within two to three hours .. i prefer to phone on the morning just after 8 a.m. and they sometimes give a specific time such as 2.20 - 4.20 p.m. and they are always within the alloted time.
if i haven't heard the door knocker they also phone your home number from outside as it's happened to me .. lol,

P.S. Healthcare at Home also have a good Pharmacy Department if you need to travel with the drug, and also provide a good thermometer ( just things you might want to know for the future )

I get an email the week before the delivery is due and every few months I have to give a stock total.
So far, (4 or 5 years) they've never failed me. Full Marks H at H Anne

Good luck with the Humira Rich, I hope you have the same response to it that I've had with Enbrel, I know it's been a long journey to get to it. I have Heathcare at home and I've had no problems at all with them.

Hi Rich, good luch with the new drug and I'd back up what the others say, healthcare at home were good, even if it did fill the fridge and make for interesting conversation when friends went to retrieve the wine.

Thanks all for the replies and the support , Well the drugs arrived together with a nice yellow sharps bin .The delivery was 20 mins earlier than the timeslot , and i now have a nurse visit on Friday week to teach me how to stab myself . The pens look smaller than the vids i have watched so perhaps all the people in the vids had small hands ;) hehe. Package wasn't too big so it is in the milk part of the fridge ..standing up... as there is no mention on the packs that say it has to be "This way up" They say they have stopped giving out 12 month delivery plans until after the first appt with the nurse , although their paperwork does state that there is one in the intro pack , they are going to change the paperwork. hi Rich,
as Kathleen said you get a 12 month schedule with the first lot, and then i phoned and asked for one for this year. although once you allot a day for delivery mine has always been a Friday which suits me. so it's fairly easy to work ahead from your calendar.
they phone you about two weeks before the next delivery is due, to ask how many injections you have left .. and i request a sharps bin then, i find one every other month is about right. i also store mine on the shelf i.e. not standing up and all has been well. take it out of the fridge about 20 mins before using and always check the bubble is moving.
you probably remember the state i was in when i started, and i went over to my own Rheumy Nurse for the first one and then went again for the second one to let her watch me do it. but now i don't think about it. i do write in my diary which side of my tummy i inject so that i can alternate each fortnight.
let's hope this is the one for you, can't tell you the difference it has made to me.

I saw your photo on twitter (the epi pens & sharpes box) earlier! You won't know yourself soon - running into the sea in your mankini! Hope I didn't offend! Any trips planned taking photos? Hi Rich I get mine delivered once a month and just 2 injections at a time. Maybe that's how Portsmouth prescribe them. I get healthcare at home to deliver them to my local pharmacy (who I talked to very very nicely) - they then ring me when they are in and I pick them up later in the day. Heathcare at home emails me every other time to do a stock check, and I just tell them how many I will have left when the next delivery is due (which is usually just one). The other time I get an email just to check if the delivery day is still ok. Delivery times have been very hit and miss - and morning turns into afternoon frequently.... so I'm really grateful to the Pharmacy... they do make a lot of money out of me, as my repeat list is 4 pages long!!! And I have known the owner for 25 years!! Hope all goes well... humira has been my 'life-saving' drug. Anne

Hello Jane Suzanne and all you other #spoonies. Well on Thursday the Nurse rang me at 6pm and said she would be here for 0930.. so on Friday waited and kept going out to check she wasn't lost ...11.30 arrived and i just had to ring H@H . They said they would ring back . At 1300 i got a call saying the Nurse was running a little late , and i pointed out it was well over 3 hours late .They then said that the original nurse had called in sick and i had been reallocated to another Nurse . They had not realised that the first Nurse had already booked a time . Grrr Anyway the 2nd Nurse arrived at 6 pm and she spent a while going through all the stuff and i practised the sequence with a dummy pen . Did the injection and apparently 30 secs later went white , i know i had felt very odd. Pain not too bad until the stinging a minute later. No real probs apart from that and night sweats (which i haven't had for years, Ahh that and i awoke at 2.45 and couldn't get back to sleep ... so popped to the Thames and got some sunrise shots :) So all in all not too bad ... time will tell if it improves the condition at all :) I actually used my leg , partly cos i was wearing shorts and it felt easier with the dummy pen doing it on my leg , and partly cos i didn't want to reveal my increasing tummy bulge ;) hehe I look forward to 2 weeks (ish) time as you do not have to be THAT exact :) Think i will do it in the evening again tho cos of the "odd" feeling. Hi Rich, glad it actually did take place despite all the mix up, though why they couldn't have rung and told you is anybody's guess. As you went white and felt wierd would it be worth having somebody there fore the next one just in case ???
Can you post the sunrise pictures?

well glad you've had the first one done, sorry though that you didn't feel quite right. hopefully the second time you will feel fine ( perhaps your body had a shock )
agree with Sheila, could you possibly ask if a Nurse could come out again .. or perhaps ask your Rheumy Nurse if you could go over there, i recall from memory that you don't have brilliant service but this is so new and i think every little helps so to speak!!
what a looooong day that must have been, think i would have called it off by then i would have been in such a state, also perhaps that didn't help all the waiting.
let's hope to hear good news in a fortnight and hope you rest well tonight,

I had the same thing on the first one - but the nurses reckoned it was just the stress of building up to doing it - I guess shock! I did go for the tummy despite the flab!!
Still, I have never had any problems since... so hopefully you'll be the same.
Really hoping it works for you.
